Mercedes-Benz EQS Launched at ₹1.41 Crore: Electric SUV Will Run 809km on Full Charge, Safety Features Like Multiple Driver Assistance System

German automaker Mercedes-Benz has launched the EQS electric SUV in India on September 16. Mercedes has introduced it in a single variant, the 580 4-Matic, priced at Rs. 1.41 crore (ex-showroom pan-India).

The luxury car maker claims that the car can run 809km on a single full charge and comes with features like multiple driver assistance systems for safety. The looks and features of the electric SUV are similar to the GLS SUV.

The EQS SUV will be assembled locally in India just like the EQS sedan.

The Audi Q8 will compete with the e-tron and BMW iX This is the sixth electric car in the company's Indian lineup. The flagship electric car EQS has been launched soon after the Maybach. The car is positioned between the EQE SUV and the Maybach EQS SUV. In India, the Mercedes-Benz EQS competes with electric cars like the Audi Q8 e-tron and the BMW iX.

The car has 19 inch alloy wheels.

Exterior: 19-inch alloy wheels and LED lighting setup The exterior of the Mercedes-Benz EQS gets much less chrome than the Maybach EQS and also lacks Maybach's special dual-tone paint scheme with deep-dish alloy wheels. Talking about the size, this car is similar to the Mercedes-Benz GLS, with a length of 5125mm, width of 1959mm and height of 1718mm.

The front of the Mercedes-Benz EQS features a large closed grille, with the Mercedes-Benz logo in the center and slim LED headlights on either side. Apart from this, it has a connected LED DRL strip that covers the entire width of the bonnet and a large bumper.

Aerodynamically designed 19-inch alloy wheels and flush fitting door handles will be available on the side. A square shaped roof is provided on the EQS. Talking about the rear, there is a skid plate with connected LED lighting and silver finishing. Charging is on the front fender of the EQS SUV.

Interior: Triple touch screen setup The interior of the EQS SUV features a triple screen on the dashboard, which the company has named the MBUX Hyper Screen. Mercedes has given wood inserts on its door pads and center console. Leather upholstery is available in the car. Mercedes-Benz has introduced the EQS SUV in a three-layer layout, which can seat 7 people.

The car has a 17.7-inch touchscreen on the dashboard, a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the co-passenger, making a total setup of 55.5-inches. Apart from this, the car gets features like head-up display, augmented reality navigation, 5-zone climate control, 360-degree camera and multi-ambient lighting setup, personal entertainment screen and electronically adjustable seat for the middle passenger.

For safety, the car gets features like level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, 9 airbags, different driver-assistance systems and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Performance: Range of 809km and top speed of 210kmph The Mercedes-Benz EQS comes with different battery packs in the global market, but in India it is offered with a dual motor and 122kWh battery pack combination. This setup generates 544hp of power and 858Nm of torque. The car has an all wheel drive powertrain option.

The company claims that this car can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 210kmph. An electric car can run 809 km on a full charge. The battery pack can be charged from 10-80% in 31 minutes with a 200kW DC charger.
