Police said the incident took place at Doke Talim area of ​​Nanapeth, Pune at around 8:30 pm. It is suspected that Andekar was killed due to a dominance dispute. Vanraj's mother is a councilor and his sister is a mayor Vanraj Andekar was elected from the Nationalist Congress Party in the 2017 Pune Municipal Corporation elections. After the NCP split into two factions, he supported the Ajit faction. Before this, his mother Rajshree Andekar has been a councilor twice in 2007 and 2012. Vanraj Andekar's cousin Udaykat Andekar was also a councillor. Apart from this, his sister Vatsala Andekar has been the mayor of Pune. Vanraj's father was the leader of the Andekar gang. The Andekar gang has been involved in various crimes in Pune for 25 years. The leader of this gang is Suryakant Andekar alias Bandoo, father of Vanraj Andekar. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder case of gangster Pramod Malwadkar. However, he got bail a few days ago. The Andekar gang and the Malwadkar gang have clashed several times. Serious crimes like murder, attempt to murder, extortion, assault etc. have been registered against Suryakant Andekar. Action has been taken against Suryakant Andekar and 6 others under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act. Vanraj Andekar became a councilor in 2017
