They were demanding a ceasefire and the release of the remaining hostages. He said that if this agreement had been reached, the hostages could have been released. Netanyahu does not want to compromise for political reasons. According to reports, the protesters continued the protest throughout the night. They blocked many highways. They were raising slogans of 'Now-Now'. He was demanding an early ceasefire with Hamas. Many people were raising slogans demanding the return of the hostages alive. Demonstrators held Israeli flags, yellow ribbons and placards apologizing for the six murdered hostages in honor of the hostages. Nationwide strike announced by labor union Meanwhile Israel's largest labor union General Federation of Labor has called for a nationwide strike from Monday. The trade union, which represents 8,00,000 employees in sectors such as health, transport and banking, said the strike would begin at 6 am on Monday. The strike is intended to increase pressure on the government for a ceasefire to allow the return of the remaining people held hostage by Hamas in Gaza. Israel's largest international airport, Ben-Gurion, will also be closed due to the strike. However, the airport authority has denied this. This will be the first general strike by the labor union since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. Earlier, there was also a general strike in June 2023, after which Prime Minister Netanyahu had to postpone the judicial reform plan. Defense Minister angry with his own government Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant has attacked his own government after the bodies of 6 hostages were found. He said the government was prioritizing capturing the border area instead of freeing the hostages. Gallant was referring to the Philadelphia Corridor, a buffer zone adjacent to Egypt and the Gaza Strip. 3 months ago the Israeli army occupied this 14 km long area. Gallant said we don't have time now. If we continue like this, we will never be able to free the rest of the hostages. According to the report, Hamas is upset about Israel's occupation of the Philadelphia Corridor. Freeing the hostages should be our priority, Gallant said. After freeing them, we can capture the Philadelphia corridor within 8 hours. The hostages were killed before Israeli forces arrived. Earlier on Friday night, Israeli forces recovered the bodies of six hostages from Hamas tunnels in Rafah, Gaza. A postmortem report revealed that he was shot in the head at close range sometime between Thursday and Friday morning. The Israeli army said Hamas brutally killed the hostages shortly before the soldiers arrived.
