Former NCP councilor Vanraj Andekar was shot dead in Pune, Maharashtra on Sunday night. Five bullets were fired at the former councilor one after the other. After the shooting, Vanraj Andekar was admitted to hospital in a critical condition, where he died during treatment. Police said the incident took place at Doke Talim area of Nanapeth, Pune at around 8:30 pm. It is suspected that Andekar was killed due to a dominance dispute. Andekar's relatives are suspected of murder. The police have detained three people and started interrogation. CCTV footage of attack goes viral CCTV footage of the incident is also going viral. In which about 12 youths on 5-6 bikes are seen attacking Andekar simultaneously. Such attackers reached Andekar. Andekar started running backwards to save his life. Meanwhile, an assailant shot Andekar near the ear. After Andekar was covered in blood, the assailant fired while waving the gun in the air. After this all the people fled from the place. The power supply to the area was cut off before the attack.According to media reports, the attackers had planned to kill Andekar. The lights in the area were cut off. Andekar was standing alone outside on the road as there was no light. The attackers also reached the spot with a knife. However, no incident of knife attack has come to light so far. Vanraj's mother is a councilor and his sister is a mayor Vanraj Andekar was elected from the Nationalist Congress Party in the 2017 Pune Municipal Corporation elections. After the NCP split into two factions, he supported the Ajit faction. Before this, his mother Rajshree Andekar has been a councilor twice in 2007 and 2012. Vanraj Andekar's cousin Udaykat Andekar was also a councillor. Apart from this, his sister Vatsala Andekar has been the mayor of Pune. Vanraj's father was the leader of the Andekar gang. The Andekar gang has been involved in various crimes in Pune for 25 years. The leader of this gang is Suryakant Andekar alias Bandoo, father of Vanraj Andekar. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder case of gangster Pramod Malwadkar. However, he got bail a few days ago. The Andekar gang and the Malwadkar gang have clashed several times. Serious crimes like murder, attempt to murder, extortion, assault etc. have been registered against Suryakant Andekar. Action has been taken against Suryakant Andekar and 6 others under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act. Vanraj Andekar became a councilor in 2017
