Claims to have blown up Nasrallah's brother: Israel strikes his hideout in Beirut, talks of making him Hezbollah chief

The Israeli army on Thursday targeted a bunker where a meeting of top Hezbollah officials was to be held.

Hashem Safideen, the brother of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in the Israeli strike, is also claimed to have been killed. The Times of Israel reported that the Israeli army targeted Safaidin in Beirut on Thursday.

According to the New York Times, Israeli officials said the planes had bombed an underground bunker. Hizbullah's top officials were holding a meeting here. Saifeedin was going to participate in this. It is not known whether Saifiddin reached there or not.

Neither the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) nor Hezbollah have released any statement regarding Safaidin's killing. After Nasrallah was killed last week, Safaidin was considered his successor. He appears to be Nasrallah's cousin.

Safiddin considers himself a descendant of the Prophet Mohammad, so like Nasrallah, he wears a black turban. America declared him a terrorist in 2017. He looks after the political affairs of Hezbollah. Apart from this, he is also the chairman of the Jihad Council, which plans the organization's military operations.

Saifeddin is one of six clerics serving on the Shura Council, Hezbollah's highest advisory body. He was elected as the head of the Executive Council in 2001.

This picture of Saifeedin is from 24th May. He was involved in an event after the death of the President of Iran.
