Compared to last year, the US has drastically reduced the number of F1 visa approvals for Indian students this year. If we look at the current data, there has been a significant decrease in June, July. This decline suggests that many factors, including government policies, will affect students who want to study abroad in the future.
Looking at visa approval data from May to August, May: 11,840 approvals in 2024 against 3,662 approvals in 2023 June: 26,747 approvals in 2024 against 40,224 approvals in 2023 July: 14,607 approvals in 2024 against 31,803 approvals in 2023 August: 5,532 approvals in 2024 against 12,867 approvals in 2023
88,556 visas were approved in 2023, against 58,726 visas in 2024.
Visa expert Partheshbhai Thakkar says, it is hoped that the US will increase the number of visas in the future. Students need to be aware of several issues, including university selection, TOEFL and GRE exams and adequate preparation for interviews. Apart from this, students need to be confident. Visa approvals have declined, but Partheshbhai expressed hope that student visas will increase.
Partheshbhai adds, there are elections in America and that is why the visa policy for international students will be clarified. Now students need to prepare better.
Finally, Partheshbhai says, the decline in student visas is a definite cause for concern. Students who want to study in America can now hope that visas will increase. The visa process may be significantly affected after the election in the US.
