External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is on his way to Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, said on Saturday that he is not going there to hold any talks with the neighboring country.
While addressing an event in Delhi, Jaishankar said that the only reason he went to Pakistan was the SCO meeting. This is a multifaceted phenomenon. They will not discuss India-Pakistan relations there.
“Being a good member of SCO, I am going to attend the meeting in Pakistan. I am a decent man so I will behave well when I go there,” the foreign minister said. Apart from this, Jaishankar also held Pakistan responsible for SAARC not being active.
Jaishankar will visit Pakistan on October 15-16.
Jaishankar said- SAARC cannot move forward because of Pakistan He said, “SAARC is not moving forward now. We have not held any of its meetings for years. There is only one reason and that is that one member of the organization is carrying out terrorist attacks on another. Terrorism is an issue that cannot be ignored. If this continues we cannot take SAARC forward.

This will be the first time an Indian minister will visit Pakistan since Sushma Swaraj's visit in 2015.
In fact, Pakistan had invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the SCO meeting on August 29. Pakistan's foreign ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that invitations have been sent to the heads of all member states to participate in the meeting.
On August 30, after Pakistan's invitation, Jaishankar made a statement on the relations between the two countries. He said –
The dialogue phase with Pakistan is over. Everything has a time, every work reaches its end. Article 370 has been removed from Jammu and Kashmir, the issue is over. Why should we consider any relationship with Pakistan now?
