Jaishankar's clarification on ending 75% dispute with China: Said- My statement was only about withdrawal of troops, challenge will be on other issues

India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday clarified the statement that 75% of disputes with China would be resolved. He said at the Asia Society Policy Institute in New York that he only meant to withdraw the troops.

The foreign minister said that there are still challenges with China on other issues. Jaishankar said that India's history with China has been full of difficulties.

Jaishankar said that we had a clear agreement with China on the LAC, but they violated the agreement by deploying many troops during the Corona epidemic in 2020. After this there was fear of an accident and it happened. Clashes ensued and people on both sides suffered casualties.

Jaishankar said that this decision of China has affected the relations of both the parties. He said that now we have managed to solve most of the cases of divorce in the conflict areas, but some problems related to patrols need to be solved. Now the next step will be to reduce stress.

Jaishankar said that talks are going on between the two sides to find a solution to the problem.

Jaishankar said- Galwan clash affected relations

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said at a summit held in Geneva on September 12 that India is getting success in border talks with China and about 75% of the disputes have been resolved. He said that the two countries' armies facing each other on the border is a big issue. If the border dispute is resolved, improvement in India-China relations is possible.

Jaishankar said that the fierce clash between China and India in 2020 had a bad impact on the relations between the two countries. No one can say that after border violence, other relations will not be affected. Even before this, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has talked about relations with China.

Jaishankar said- China does not accept written agreement

Jaishankar made a statement about China in Japan on March 7. He said that there was peace on the border from 1975 to 2020. Everything changed in 2020 (Galwan Clash). He said neighbors violating written agreements are a concern. This raises questions about the stability of their relationship. As the world is changing, India's relations with other countries are also changing. There is no need to be aggressive in this.

China said- Ladakh is our part

China had condemned the Supreme Court's decision to abrogate Article 370 from Kashmir in December 2023. China said that this decision does not matter to Beijing. The western part of the India-China border has always belonged to China.

China further said – We have never recognized India's unilaterally and illegally established Union Territory of Ladakh. The Indian Supreme Court's decision cannot change the fact that the western part of the border belongs to China.

A meeting was held in Beijing to maintain peace on the LAC

Earlier, the 31st meeting between India and China was held on August 29 in Beijing on the border issue. Both the countries decided to maintain peace in the border area as per bilateral agreements and protocols. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the two sides discussed the situation on the LAC. Meanwhile, it was also agreed to increase contacts through diplomatic and military channels.

What happened in Galwan Valley?

On 15 June 2020, China deployed troops in the border areas of eastern Ladakh on the pretext of an exercise. After this incidents of infiltration took place in many places.

The Indian government also deployed the same number of troops as China in the area. The situation became so bad that bullets were fired at the LAC.

Meanwhile, on June 15, 20 Indian soldiers were martyred in a clash with the Chinese army in the Galwan Valley. Later India also gave a jaw-dropping reply to this. About 60 Chinese soldiers were killed.
