Nitul Gajjar Pura is a serene and fascinating place, rooted in rich cultural heritage, adventurous activities and the unique beauty of nature that changes colors in every season. There are some attractions here which make visiting this place in winter a very good option. Located in the heart of Agartala, the capital of Tripura, Ujjayanta Palace is one of the most famous sightseeing places in Tripura. Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya built this palace in 1901. Its central Durbar Hall, its elaborate decorations and interesting gardens are a reminder of the grandeur of the place in the past. The palace currently functions as a state museum and gives visitors an insight into Tripura's cultural heritage and royal past. Unakoti caves are also a great attraction for people visiting Tripura. This place is like an amazing sight which should not be missed especially by art and history lovers. This ancient rock carving is believed to have been built between the seventh and ninth centuries and is also a Shaivite pilgrimage site. Here the faces of Hindu gods are carved on the rock. According to one belief, many people believe that the Pandavas must have also settled here during their exile. The Site is named 'Unakoti', which translates to 'less than a crore', because of the thousands of carvings spread over a vast space. Apart from this, the Sundari temple in Tripura's Udaipur is also an interesting example of architectural style as well as a center of faith. Mahakali Mataji is worshiped here. Here lies the Jampui hills. Where the privilege of trekking and seeing some of the local attractions scattered around is worth taking. There are several small villages located in this area, where the experience of interacting with the people of the tribal community living and understanding their culture will also prove interesting. For the wildlife lovers there is 'Sipahijala Wildlife Sanctuary'. Safari monkeys, clouded leopards and some rare species of birds are not to be missed in this reserved forest spread over 18.5 km. One can enjoy boating in the Rudrasagar lake. Niramhal Palace is also located in the middle of this lake. A fusion of Mughal style and Hindu culture, this palace was built in the 1930s. Every year 'Jampui Hills Orange and Tourism Festival' is organized in Tripura. Glimpse of the local culture, shopping for handicrafts made by the locals, tasting various dishes made with freshly squeezed oranges will prove to be an unforgettable experience of a lifetime. One of the reasons to visit Tripura in winter is the diverse festivals celebrated here. Also, the temperature of this state remains between ten degrees to 30 degrees throughout the year. Winters here are not harsh at all and people can enjoy trekking equally as the humidity level in this area is very low during winter. All the attractions here are open in winters and animal watching in the forests of this area is also the most fun during winters. Apart from sightseeing in Tripura, the opportunity to buy clothes made by the local tribals is not to be missed. The embroidery of this area is appreciated. Also items made from bamboo are strong and durable and should be brought along as a souvenir shopping.} What to eat and how to get there? Here the locals still like to fill their belly by hunting and fishing. So you will find both simplicity and variety in the food here. In Tripura you will get a chance to eat many dishes made of bamboo and rice. Out of which rice pudding, chuak etc. are some very interesting types of sweets. Apart from this, bamboo vegetable, rice cooked in bamboo sticks as well as panch phoron tikari, bhangui etc. are also some fun food options. All these local dishes are a pleasure to indulge in according to the local taste. You will find some other food options in Agartala, but away from the city you will mostly have to depend on the local cuisine. Veg options will be limited. Reaching Tripura is thus easy and straightforward. Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala is connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta. The best option to reach here is by flight. Also, trains from Assam and Kolkata also reach Agartala. Also, private as well as government buses are available from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to come here. Apart from this, Tripura is also well connected with Assam by road. Coming here by taxi or self driving car is also a good option. So you can move around as you like. Taxis are also available to go beyond Agartala. However, it is advisable to get information about the road conditions and other seasons before traveling in this area.
