Marriage Certificate: Marriage certificate is as important as marriage!

In today's society, marriage is a new relationship not only between two individuals but also between two families. However, getting a marriage certificate at the right time is as important as marriage for starting a new life. Marriages are registered under the Hindu Marriage Act 1955 and the Special Marriage Act 1954. If the marriage certificate is not obtained at the right time, problems may arise. To avoid this problem, the marriage certificate should be obtained at the right time. When is it necessary? Á Producing a marriage certificate is useful in many cases- Á If you are working somewhere and opting for marriage in marital status, your marriage certificate becomes a proof of marriage. This is necessary for both government and non-government organizations. Á If you want to avail any scheme of Central or State Government which is brought for husband and wife, it is necessary to have marriage certificate. Á After the death of husband, widowed women also get the benefit of government schemes on the basis of marriage certificate. Á Marriage certificate also becomes the basis for filing FIR against husband or wife related to domestic matters. Á To apply for divorce, you need to have proof of marriage i.e. marriage certificate. Á If you want to become a permanent citizen of another country, this also requires the couple to show a marriage certificate. Á Marriage certificate can be used as a basis if you want to open a joint bank account. When can marriage be registered? Á If you are newly married you should apply for marriage certificate within 30 days. However, if there is some delay, the marriage can be registered even after five years of marriage with an additional fee. Let us tell you that if it is more than 5 years then only concerned district registrar can grant exemption. How to apply for marriage certificate? Á Marriage certificate has to be applied to the marriage registrar. After getting the appointment, you have to go to the registrar on the appointed day with all the necessary documents. Á You can visit your state government website in online mode. Marriage registration option is available here. On getting an appointment, you can visit the office on the appointed day with two witnesses and documents. Documents Required for Marriage Certificate Á Application Form Á Proof of Address Á Age Certificate of the Couple (Birth or Class 10th Certificate) Á Couple ID Card and Aadhaar Card Á Two Passport Size Photographs Á Joint Photograph of the Marriage Á Marriage Card Á In case of marriage in temple, gurdwara, church , obtaining a certificate from Á Two witnesses Á Divorce certificate of first marriage at second marriage Á Death certificate on death of first husband Á Court documents regarding court marriage Age of couple to register marriage A woman must be at least 18 years of age on the date of marriage to get the certificate. Apart from this, male age must be 21 years. This is the basic condition.
