I was an MP from Wayanad for the last 5 years. I am thankful for people's love and support. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will contest from Wayanad, but I will also visit Wayanad from time to time. I have a long relationship with Rae Barelli, I am glad that I will have the opportunity to represent them again, but it was a difficult decision.

Rahul hugged Priyanka during a press conference in June when he announced his resignation from the Wayanad seat.
After Rahul's announcement, Priyanka said – I will be very happy to represent Wayanad. I will not let him feel his (Rahul Gandhi) absence. I will work hard. I will try my best to please everyone and be a good representative. I have a very old relationship with Rae Bareli and Amethi, it cannot be broken. I will also help my brother in Rae Bareli. We will be present at both Rae Bareli and Wayanad.
No person can be a member of two Houses simultaneously Under the Constitution, a person cannot be a member of both Houses or both Houses of Parliament and State Legislature simultaneously. Also he cannot represent more than one seat in one House. Under Article 101 (1) of the Constitution and Article 68 (1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, if a People's Representative wins an election from 2 seats, he has to vacate one seat within 14 days of the announcement of the election. If no one vacates the seat, both his seats become vacant.
Here are the rules for vacating a Lok Sabha seat…
• If a member wants to resign from the Lok Sabha or any seat, he has to send the resignation to the Speaker of the House.
• If there is no Speaker or Deputy Speaker in the composition of the new Parliament, in such a case the candidate submits his resignation letter to the Election Commission.
• The Election Commission then sends a copy of the resignation letter to the Home Secretary.
