Rahul-Khadge rally in Maharashtra today: Ex-minister to inaugurate Patangrao Kadam's statue; will address a public meeting in Sangli

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge will visit Maharashtra today. Rahul will inaugurate the statue of former minister Patangrao Kadam, who was the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, at Wangi here at 1 pm. Kadam passed away in 2018. After this, Rahul will hold a public meeting in Sangli around 2 pm. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Vijay Vadettiwar and Congress Legislature Leader Balasaheb Thorat will also be present on the occasion. NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray have also been invited to Rahul's event, an associate of Mahavikas Aghadi. However, Uddhav will not attend the event. He is upset with the defeat in the Sangli Lok Sabha seat. Elections may be held in Maharashtra in October. The tenure of the BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) government ends in November 2024. BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde group) government will end its tenure in November 2024. In the Lok Sabha elections, BJP won only 9 seats. In 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections, BJP won 104 seats. The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance includes incumbent Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's NCP. In Lok Sabha Election 2024, BJP could win only 9 out of 48 seats in Maharashtra. NCP (Ajit group) won one seat. Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) won 7 seats. On the other hand, Congress included in Maha Vikas Aghadi won 13 seats, Uddhav group's Shiv Sena won 9 seats and Sharad Pawar's NCP won 8 seats. MVA won a total of 30 out of 48 seats. According to Congress sources, this initiative has been taken by Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi asked Haryana leaders about this in the meeting of Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) held on September 2. The party has formed a committee of Deepak Babria, Ajay Maken and Bhupendra Hooda headed by KC Venugopal for the alliance.
