Order to demolish illegal second floor of mosque in Mandi: Court gives municipal corporation commissioner 30 days time, Hindu organizations protest

Illegal two-storey mosque in Himachal's Mandi town will have to be demolished within 30 days. Municipal Corporation Commissioner HS Rana's court gave this decision on Friday. This thirty-year-old 3-storied mosque is located on Jail Road in the city. It is alleged that its two floors were constructed illegally. Now it will be broken. The Hindu organizations staged a demonstration when the hearing was going on in the MC Commissioner's Court in the case of illegal construction of the mosque. The police had put up barricades around the mosque. Water cannons were used to stop the protesters. Clashes broke out between the police and the protesters. The protestors chanted Hanuman Chalisa. The case regarding this is going on in the court of Municipal Corporation Commissioner from June 2024. The land of this mosque is in the name of a Muslim woman. In March this year, two floors were built over the one-storey mosque. The municipality had given a notice to stop the work in June. When an investigation was carried out, some of the land was found to belong to PWD. A wall adjacent to the road was also built illegally. After negotiations failed, Hindu organizations decided to protest. DC Mandi Apoorva Devgan has appealed to the people to maintain peace. A committee will be formed on the mosque dispute. It is a peace loving state, where all religions are respected. No religion or caste will be offended. Our government will act according to law.
