Anjuthambalam Veerakavu temple in Kasargod, Kerala, was blasted during firework display at around 12:30 pm on Monday. In which more than 150 people have been injured. Kasargod police said that the condition of 8 people is critical and they have been admitted to the hospital.
The cause of the blast is not yet known. According to media reports, while crackers were being burst at the temple for the annual Kaliyattam festival, sparks from the firecrackers reached the firecracker storage area, where the fire broke out.

A huge crowd was seen in the temple even till half past twelve in the night. People were bursting firecrackers near the temple for Kaliyatham festival.

The injured were taken to different hospitals
Police said the injured have been taken to different hospitals. Three critical people have been admitted to Pariyaram Medical College and several others to hospitals in Mangalore, Coonoor and Kasaragod. Kasargod district police chief, collector and other officials have reached the spot.

The CPI(M) MLA said – the firecrackers were of low intensity. He also spoke to the district collector to find out the cause of the incident. Rajagopal said – I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured. The firecrackers were of low intensity, but sparks from the crackers fell where other crackers were kept. Kasargod MP Rajmohan Unnithan also talked about the recovery of the injured.
