Kolkata rape-murder case, ex-principal's 6 residences raided: ED action in money laundering case; The Supreme Court dismissed the petition against the CBI probe

Sandeep Ghosh, the former principal of Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College, is accused of financial irregularities. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a case of money laundering under PMLA. On Friday, ED conducted raids at 6 locations. This includes Ghosh's Beliaghata house. Apart from this, the agency is also investigating at two other places in Howrah and Subhashgram. On the other hand, CBI is also investigating the matter. On August 13, the Calcutta High Court handed over the investigation into the RG Kar rape-murder case and financial irregularities at the hospital to the CBI. Ghosh's plea against the CBI probe was heard in the Supreme Court today. The court has rejected the application. The CBI arrested Ghosh on September 2. He has been in CBI custody for 8 days. The West Bengal Health Department has suspended Ghosh. Earlier on August 28, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) canceled the membership of Sandeep Ghosh. CBI probe reveals- Sandeep Ghosh ordered renovations the day after the incident Meanwhile, a CBI probe on September 5 revealed that Sandeep Ghosh had ordered the renovation of a room adjacent to the seminar hall the day after the rape-murder of the trainee doctor. The body of the trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall on the morning of August 9. According to sources, the CBI has received documents which confirm that Sandeep Ghosh had written to the state Public Works Department (PWD) on August 10 to renovate the rooms and toilets adjacent to the seminar hall. This permission letter is also signed by Ghosh.
