- As darkness falls where the chariot passes, the administration cuts off the electricity as a precaution
The longest Dussehra festival in the country is celebrated in Bastar, Chhattisgarh and lasts for 77 days. One of the main customs of this festival is Bahar Raini and Bhitar Raini (a kind of custom to persuade the angry people). In which a huge two-storied chariot is operated. The height of the chariot is 20 feet and the length is more than 45 feet. Although the chariot has no steering or brakes, it can be driven for 6 km without any hindrance. Also collides with objects in the way.
Every year the municipality repairs the broken pillar If the chariot collides with any electric pole, car, bike, sign board or any other object on the route where the chariot passes. Actually, the chariot has no brakes. Meanwhile the chariot, when pulled with full force, moves rapidly in one direction and collides with whatever comes in that direction. Every year after this vandalism, the municipality carries out repairs.
Bhaskar Suggestion: Wiring should be done underground During the Vijayarath Parikrama in Bastar Dussehra, the electricity supply is cut off in the roads it passes through. Underground wiring has been done on the main roads of the city but in some areas this work is yet to be done. So if the pole and transformer are removed from this route and underground, then this power cut and repair work every year can be avoided.
