Cyclone 'Dana' kills 4 in Bengal: Crop damage in 1.75 lakh acres in Odisha; Rain, mercury plummets in Bihar-Jharkhand

According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone 'Dana' which emerged from the Bay of Bengal will calm down completely by Saturday night. Cyclone 'Dana' has claimed 4 lives in West Bengal's East Bardhaman, South 24 Parganas, Kolkata and Howrah.

No one died in Odisha due to the cyclone, but rains and storms caused crop damage in an area of ​​1.75 lakh hectares. Odisha CM Mohan Charan Manjhi said that 8 lakh people were rescued before the storm.

Cyclone 'Dana' also affected Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu. Rains continue in Bihar and Jharkhand. The temperature in Jharkhand has dropped by 6 degrees. Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh are likely to receive rain in the next 24 hours.

Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore districts in Odisha have been worst affected. Many trees were uprooted due to strong winds. Electricity poles were down. Because of this, power supply was disrupted in many areas. Due to the storm, rain is also falling in the nearby states of Jharkhand and Bihar.

Heavy rain continued in 8 districts of South Bengal on Friday. Kolkata received 4 inches of rain in 24 hours. However, air service was resumed in both the states between 8 am and 9 am on Friday and railway by 10 am.

2,211 babies were born between the storms, including 18 twins

4,859 pregnant women were referred to maternity centers in Odisha during the cyclone. Out of which 2,211 gave birth on October 23 and 24. The newborns include 18 twins.

Chhattisgarh: Yellow alert, lightning alert with rain in 12 districts today

The impact of Cyclone 'Dana' was seen in the districts of Chhattisgarh today (Saturday). Districts of the state bordering Odisha are likely to receive light to moderate rains. The Meteorological Department has declared yellow alert for 12 districts. The Meteorological Department says that as soon as the effect of 'Dana' wears off, the mercury in the temperature will begin to fall, due to which the state will experience mild cold.

Rajasthan: Cold will not increase till Diwali, temperature will increase during the day
