Terrorists infiltrating from Pakistan have carried out 7 attacks in Kashmir region in 2 weeks. 13 people, including 2 jawans, have lost their lives in it, but the attack by 3 terrorists in Battal village of Akhnoor was completely different in two ways. First- He occupied the temple with heavy weapons. Second- The clash area was very close to LAC. So, on Monday, the army planned to defeat the terrorists with a new strategy.
In fact, for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir for an anti-terrorist operation, the fielding of LSG commandos and 4 BMP-2 'Sarath' tanks surprised everyone. In response to this question, an army officer told Bhaskar that at 6 o'clock on Monday morning, when the three ascetics entered the Asan temple in Battal village, there was worship. Many local people were there. The terrorists asked people to leave. Just as the people were leaving, an army ambulance drove by and the terrorists panicked and opened fire. Soon the jawans surrounded the entire area but we suspected that the terrorists have taken some people captive in the temple. The terrorists had many weapons so NSG commandos were called in to prevent casualties as they are skilled in handling such situations.
The commandos reached the spot by 12 noon and started the operation. Before 2 pm, the commandos entered the temple after killing the terrorist. Seeing them, the remaining two terrorists fled into the forest towards the LoC. After a search in the temple nothing was found and after that the NSG operation was over. The battle front fell to the commandos of 9 Para SF and 9 Punjab Regiment. According to army officials, the forest was dense and the militants were only 5 kilometers away from the LoC. If the commandos had advanced, Pakistan Army could have opened fire to save the terrorists. There was also a suspicion of loss of life due to it. Therefore, the operation was stopped to give an immediate response to Pakistan and the BMP-2 tank of the mechanized unit of Thalesana was called, so that Pakistan could be given a jaw-dropping response without delay.
