Air Force wing commander accused of rape: Junior flying officer files FIR, says- exploited for two years; Both were stationed in Srinagar

A female flying officer of the Indian Air Force has accused the wing commander of rape. An FIR has been registered in this matter in Budgam of Jammu and Kashmir. Both the officers are posted in Srinagar itself. According to sources, the Air Force said that the police station in Budgam contacted us. We are cooperating with the authorities in this case. We are aware of this case. According to an NDTV report, the woman officer in the FIR said that she has been facing harassment, sexual assault and mental torture at the hands of the wing commander for the past two years. On December 31, 2023, the wing commander took her to his room and raped her on the pretext of giving gifts at the New Year party held in the officers' mess. When he said he hadn't received it yet, the wing commander said the gift was in his room. Saying this he took the lady officer to his room. When the lady officer asked where her family was, the wing commander said that they had all gone somewhere. The female officer said – In his room, the wing commander forced me for oral sex and raped me. I repeatedly asked him to stop and tried my best to protect myself. Finally I pushed her and ran away. The wing commander told me that he would meet me on Friday, when his family would be gone. It took me some time to understand what had happened to me,” said the lady officer. I was scared and didn't know what to do. Since some such cases had happened earlier, I was prevented from filing a complaint. After this incident the Wing Commander came to my office. He acted as if nothing had happened. There was no regret in his eyes. The victim said that after this I told two women officers about the incident. He helped me file a complaint. I could explain how mentally disturbed I was by the way I was treated as an unmarried girl joining the army. The female officer said- My statement was recorded sitting with the wing commander. Twice in January this year the Wing Commander and I were called to record our statements. I objected that I would not record my statement in the presence of the Wing Commander. After this the investigation itself was stopped to cover up the error. After this I filed a new petition in the internal committee. This committee came to meet me after two months. The manner in which the station authority acted to help the sexual offenders was heartbreaking for me. I also had a medical check-up, that too after much insistence by me- sufferer
