9-hour planning for army commander's encounter: Army feeds dogs with biscuits to stop them from barking, so terrorists don't get alerted

The Army has made new revelations regarding the encounter of the top commander of the Army, Usman, who was killed on November 2. The army told how some biscuits played a vital role in killing a most wanted terrorist active in the valley for 8 years.

According to a PTI report, the Army received input that Usman was staying in a congested area of Khanyar area of Srinagar. As soon as the information was received, the army along with the Srinagar police made a 9-hour plan to kill Usman.

Army-police personnel reached the Khanyar area where Usman was hiding before morning prayers on November 2. The army evacuated and surrounded 30 houses. The soldiers fed the street dogs with biscuits so that Usman would not be alarmed by the barking of the street dogs.

According to media reports, the dogs remained calm by being fed biscuits throughout the operation, which made Usman unaware that the soldiers had approached his house.

Top Lashkar commander terrorist Usman alias Chhota Waleed was active in the valley since 2016-17.

Usman had AK-47, grenades… 4 explanations of the army

  1. According to media reports, Usman first opened fire on the security forces, after which the encounter began. Usman was carrying an AK-47, a pistol and several grenades.
  2. During a heavy exchange of gunfire between the security forces and Usman, some grenades exploded in the same house where Usman was staying. Due to which the house caught fire.
  3. Security forces immediately brought the fire under control. If the fire had spread to nearby houses, it would have been difficult for the security forces to control the situation.
  4. Usman was killed in this encounter which lasted for several hours. Four jawans were injured in the encounter, who were rushed to the hospital. However, his condition there is now stable.

Usman was active in the valley even 24 years ago

The army said that Usman knew the Kashmir valley well. He was active in the Valley since 2000. However, later he went to Pakistan. In 2016-17, he became active again in Srinagar and started carrying out terrorist incidents related to Lashkar. Usman was also instrumental in the shooting of police inspector Masroor Wani in 2023.

This operation of the army is also considered important because the army has been targeting non-Kashmiris for the past few days. According to media reports, Usman was playing an important role in these army operations. He was in touch with handlers based in Pakistan.

Intelligence agencies said that the target killing is a new conspiracy by Pakistan to spread unrest in Kashmir. It is believed to be aimed at sabotaging plans to rehabilitate Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.

After the abrogation of Article 370, incidents of target killings have increased in Kashmir, with militants particularly targeting Kashmiri Pandits, migrant workers and local Muslims working in the government or police, whom they consider a threat to India.
