There have been reports of Asia's richest tycoon Mukesh Ambani's company Reliance Industries Limited taking over Karan Johar's Dharma Productions for quite some time. Now the company will be owned by Reliance. However, amidst this news, Karan Johar has now put an end to the rumors by changing his bio from Dharma Productions.

Karan Johar holds 90.7 percent shares of Dharma Productions, while 9.24 percent shares are held by his mother Hiroo Johar. According to a recent E-Times report, Karan Johar is looking for strategic partners considering the poor box office collections of the last few films and the growing trend of OTT. There were also reports that Karan Johar's deal was also in the works with other companies, however, the deal could not be finalized due to valuation issues.
Reliance has a strong hold in the entertainment industry. OTT platform Jio Cinemas and production house Jio Studios are part of Reliance Industries. Apart from this, Reliance also has stake in Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms.
Recently, the film 'Stree 2', co-produced by Jio Studios, was in the news. Made on a budget of 50-120 crores, this film has made a box office collection of 873 crore rupees. Talking about Dharma production, his latest release is 'Jigra'. The film starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina will hit the theaters on October 11. Made on a budget of 90 crores, the film has collected 25 crores.
