8 more companies of the Central Force reached Manipur: one company of the Women's Battalion; Manipur Congress letter to Kharge- take action against Chidambaram

Eight more companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) reached capital Imphal on Wednesday amid rising violence in Manipur. A day ago, 11 companies of CAPF reached Manipur.

According to officials, four companies each of CAPF and BSF will be deployed in sensitive and border areas of the state. One of these companies of CAPF belongs to the women's battalion.

The Central Government recently announced that 50 new CAPF companies will be deployed in Manipur.

Security forces are also checking different vehicles in the state.

Pradesh Congress Appeal- Khadge should take action against Chidambaram Manipur Congress on Wednesday appealed to party president Mallikarjun Kharge to take action against P Chidambaram for his controversial post. Chidambaram advocated regional autonomy. In a letter to Khadge, the leaders said, “We condemn P Chidambaram's post. His language and sentiments were inappropriate considering the current climate of heightened tension, public mourning and political sensitivities in the state.”

Due to this, Kharge demanded President Draupadi Murmu to intervene on the Manipur issue. In a two-page letter written on Tuesday, he alleged that the central and state governments have failed to bring peace to Manipur in 18 months. You are the guardian of the constitution so intervene.

18 MLAs missing from NDA meeting, notice to all To discuss the deteriorating situation in the state, Chief Minister N. 18 MLAs did not attend the NDA meeting called by Biren Singh. 7 of them reported ill health, while the remaining 11 were absent without any reason. So the CM Secretariat has sent a notice to him.

Coffin March was taken out in support of Kuki terrorists The Kuki community has been protesting continuously demanding justice for 10 Kuki militants killed in an encounter with security forces on November 11 in Manipur. On Tuesday too, hundreds of people marched with 10 empty coffins in Jiribam and Churachandpur districts.

The rally was organized by Joint Philanthropic Organization (JPO).

Borobekara police station in Jiribam and the CRPF camp in nearby Jakuradhor were indiscriminately fired upon by uniformed militants last week. Ten suspected militants were later killed in an encounter with security forces. However, the Kuki community maintains that they were village volunteers.

Why the situation worsened again in Manipur?

  • 11 November: Security forces killed 10 Kuki militants in Jiribam. During the encounter, Kuki militants abducted 6 Maitai (3 women, 3 children).
  • November 15-16: The bodies of five of the six abductees were recovered.
  • 16 November: The houses of CM N Biren Singh and BJP MLAs were attacked. At the same time, 19 BJP MLAs, including several ministers, wrote to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) demanding the removal of CM Biren Singh.
  • 17 November: The situation worsened after a Maitai protester was shot dead by the police in Jiribam district during the night. CRPF DG Anish Dayal Singh reached Manipur on November 17 to take stock of the violence.
  • 18 November: The body of the last kidnapped woman was found.

Violent incidents took place in Manipur in November

  • 11 November: Militants fired from a hill on farmers working in the fields in Manipur's Yaingangpokpi Shantikhongban area, killing one farmer and injuring several others.
  • November 9-10: On November 10, firing incidents took place in Sansabi, Sabungkhok Khunau and Thamnapokpi areas of Imphal East district. A 34-year-old woman was killed by militants in Saiton of Bishnupur district on November 9. The woman was working in the field at the time of the incident.
  • 8 November: Six houses were burnt down by armed militants in Jairawan village of Jiribam district. Villagers alleged that the attackers also opened fire. A woman died in this incident. The deceased woman was identified as Josangkim Humar (age 31). He has 3 children. Villagers alleged that the attackers belonged to the Maitai community. After the incident, many people left the house and ran away.
  • 7 November: A woman belonging to the Humar caste was killed by suspected terrorists. They also set fire to houses in Jiribam. In the police case, her husband has alleged that she was raped before being burnt alive. A day later a woman from the Maitai community was shot dead by suspected Kuki insurgents.

560 days of violence in Manipur The violence between Kuki-Maitai has been going on for more than 560 days. 237 people died during this period. More than 1,500 people have been injured, 60,000 people have left their homes and are living in relief camps. About 11 thousand FIRs were registered and 500 people were arrested.

During this time there were incidents like naked parade of women, gang rape, burning alive and throat slitting. Even now Manipur is divided into two parts. Kuki in hill districts and Maitai in plain districts. Boundaries are drawn between the two, crossing of which means death.
