Neetu Kapoor spoke about daughter Riddhima Kapoor's acting career in Rishi Kapoor's biography 'Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored'. Neetu said that Riddhima knew that if she expressed her desire to enter the film industry, her father would be sad and commit suicide.
Neetu Kapoor said, 'Riddhima is a very talented and beautiful girl. He loves mimicry. She could compete with any actress in terms of acting. But Riddhima knew from her childhood that if she expressed her desire to become an actress, her father would be very sad and would commit suicide. It wasn't that he (Rishi Kapoor) didn't like girls working in films, but he was very protective of his wife and children.
Neetu said, 'Riddhima knew her father very well. For his peace of mind, he never tried to pursue a career in acting. But when Riddhima expressed her desire to become a designer, Rishi happily sent her to study in London.
According to Neetu, she gave up her career at the age of 21 because Rishi was worried about the downside of stardom. They did not want their daughter to get into problems where the media would write something about her personal life.
In those days, the ladies of the Kapoor family were known to stay away from the cameras. Raj Kapoor's daughters and nieces have never been a part of films. His daughters-in-law, Babita and Neetu Kapoor gave up their acting career soon after their marriage. Babita and Randhir Kapoor's daughters Karisma and Kareena were brought up by their mother. He started his acting career with the support of his mother.
