The series of defections continues ahead of the assembly elections in Maharashtra. Baba Siddiqui's son Zeeshan left the Congress and joined the NCP (Ajit Group) on 25 October. The party has made him its candidate from Bandra East. Zeeshan became an MLA on a Congress ticket in 2019.
After joining NCP, Zeeshan said, 'This is an emotional moment for me and my family. I would like to thank Ajit Pawar, Praful Patel, Sunil Tatkare for reposing faith in me. I will file nomination from Bandra East. I am confident that I will get people's love and trust. I will win again from Bandra East.'
He was formally given party membership at the NCP office on Friday 25 October morning.
Congress gave ticket to Prithviraj Chavan from Karad Dakshin and Sunil Deshmukh from Amravati The Congress announced the first list of 48 candidates for the Maharashtra assembly elections on Thursday night. Prithviraj Chavan has been nominated from Karad Dakshin. Praful Vinodarao Gadde has been given ticket against Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis from Nagpur South West. While two sons of former CM Vilasrao Deshmukh have been given tickets. Amit Deshmukh from Latur and Dheeraj Deshmukh from Latur Rural have been made candidates.
Single phase election on 20th November, results on 23rd November The term of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly ends on 26 November 2024. In Maharashtra, there is a coalition government of Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP Ajit Pawar group. The division of votes between the anti-incumbency and the big six parties will be a major challenge for the Sadhana Party.
