Environment activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike demanding statehood for Ladakh, ended her hunger strike on Monday.
He was on hunger strike for last 15 days. On Monday, the Home Ministry assured them that talks on Ladakh's demands would be resumed in December.
Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh Joint Secretary Prashant Lokhand met the workers who are on hunger strike at Ladakh Bhavan in Delhi and handed over a letter from the Home Ministry to them.
The letter said that the ministry's high-level committee, which is holding talks with Ladakh representatives, will hold its next meeting on December 3.
Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh Joint Secretary Prashant Lokhande appealed to Sonam Wangchuk to break her fast by drinking juice.
Wangchuk said – Our main appeal has been resolved Wangchuk said, 'I am happy to say that on the 16th day of our fast, our main appeal has been resolved. Recently, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs came to Ladakh Bhavan and handed over this letter, which says that the ongoing talks between the Leh Apex Body and the Kargil Democratic Alliance with the Central Government will resume shortly.
He hoped that the talks between two major socio-political organizations of Ladakh – Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance – would yield good results. Wangchuk also said that he hoped that he would not have to go on hunger strike again in the future and that the talks would have a happy ending.
Sonam Wangchuk ended her 15-day hunger strike by drinking juice.
Ladakh Buddhist Association said – nothing found yet Ladakh Buddhist Association President Charing Dorje Lakruk thanked Wangchuk and all those who marched for the re-conversation. “We haven't got anything yet,” he said. We hope that the talks on our four demands will be successful.
Wangchuck held a rally from Leh to Delhi in September
Sonam reached Delhi's Rajghat late at night on 2nd October and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
Sonam Wangchuk and her supporters held a rally from Leh to Delhi demanding inclusion of Ladakh in the sixth schedule of the constitution. Reached the national capital on September 30 after a month long journey.
The main demands of the protesters are that Ladakh be included in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, the establishment of a State Service Commission for Ladakh and separate Lok Sabha seats for Leh and Kargil districts.
Sonam Wangchuk went on a 21-day hunger strike in March
Sonam Wangchuk has been protesting for a long time with demands for making Ladakh a full state, reservation in jobs for locals, one parliamentary seat each for Leh and Kargil, and implementation of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
In March this year, Sonam went on a 21-day hunger strike. After ending the hunger strike, Sonam Wangchuk said – this is not the end of the movement, but a new beginning. As long as we have to agitate for our demands, we will do so.

Sonam Wangchuk, a social activist from Ladakh, and 150 other protesters were released from Bawana police station in Delhi on 2 October. After coming out of the police station, Sonam went to Rajghat under the supervision of the Delhi Police. There he paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
Sonam said – We have given a memorandum to the government that Ladakh should be protected under the constitutional provisions. I have been assured by the Home Ministry that I will meet the PM or the President in the coming days.
