New information has come to light regarding the October 20 terror attack in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir. An eyewitness told the Jammu and Kashmir Police that a camp was set up to house laborers near the Srinagar-Leh National Highway tunnel construction site in Gangangir.

Two terrorists came to this camp wearing shawls. He had hidden weapons. While the workers were eating in the camp mess, the militants reached there and opened fire on the workers. The terrorists opened fire at three places in the camp including the mess.

Sources said, the construction company also had its own security. There is also a CRPF camp 300 meters away from the Site. Despite this, the terrorists attacked. A doctor from Budgam, an engineer from Madhya Pradesh and 5 laborers from Punjab-Bihar were killed in the attack.

The details of the attack have not yet been officially released by the police or the army. However, on Sunday morning, LG Manoj Sinha also said that 2 terrorists were involved in the attack. Both of them infiltrated from Bandipora area of ​​North Kashmir.

This approach road, which has become the National Highway, leads to the new tunnel. It was shut down by security officials after the attack.

2 Matters related to power supply in the camp According to an Indian Express report, two issues are coming to light regarding the power supply in the camp. A group of workers said the militants had cut the electricity before the attack.

At the same time, another group said that some workers had cut the electricity themselves so that the terrorists would face difficulty in attacking.

The contract for the tunnel project was awarded to APCO Infratech Company.

The inauguration did not take place because of the code of conduct According to officials, the work on this 6.4 km long tunnel is almost complete, but it could not be inaugurated due to the code of conduct implemented during the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. After the attack, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army conducted a search operation.

Army's TRF organization took responsibility The Resistance Front (TRF), an outfit of Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the attack. Sources told Bhaskar that TRF chief Sheikh Sajjad Gul was the mastermind of the attack.

According to reports, the TRF has changed its tactics in the last one and a half years. Earlier TRF was doing target killing of Kashmir Pandits. Now this organization is targeting non-Kashmiris and Sikhs.

The TRF has become more active after the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir in 2019. The TRF, not the army, claims responsibility for the attack.

Objective of TRF: After 2020 TRF was involved in most incidents of target killing. Targets Kashmiri Pandits, migrant workers, government officials, leaders and security forces. After the abrogation of 370, the aim is to sabotage government schemes and resettlement schemes of Kashmiri Pandits and spread instability. They have also targeted local Muslims working in the government or police, whom they consider close to India.

The deceased have been identified as Amrit Pal (31) and Rohit Masih (25), both residents of Amritsar. Amrit Pal died on the spot. Rohit died during treatment.
