Now, Indian students can get British university degrees at half the cost: Oxford-Cambridge University to open campuses in cities like Indore, Jaipur

Britain has made great initiatives in the field of higher education in India. In five years, 24 British universities are going to open their campuses in tier-2 cities, including Indian metros. Cities like Jaipur, Bhopal, Patna, Kanpur and Indore have been selected for this. Britain's University of Southampton is going to be the first to open its campus in India. He got the license last week.

The campus to be opened in Gurugram will start receiving admissions from the next academic session. Many universities are to announce their campuses by next month. Andrew Atherton, vice-president of the University of Southampton, said that the British university wants to make its presence known in India's higher education sector.

He said that the faculty will also be recruited from India, so that students can be taught according to local needs, but the original faculty will be called from the main campus in Britain. Professors with international experience will be given priority to teach in India.

Mark Smith, president of Southampton University, said in a conversation with Bhaskar that currently a year's study in Britain costs 25 to 30 lakh rupees for international students. Students have to pay around 15 lakh rupees for a year in India. This amount is equal to the fees of any private university in India. Four PG courses and two UG level courses will be started in the first year. A target of registration of around 10 thousand Indian students has been set in the first year.

The India campus will be called the South Asia Center, targeting one lakh students The British University's upcoming campus in India will be known as the South Asia Centre. According to Tony Reid, secretary of the British Universities Association, the target is to admit 100,000 second-year students in 2026. Students from other South Asian countries will also be admitted to British campuses to be opened in India. Every British university in India will increase the number of courses from the new semester. There are currently around 15 thousand students registered in online courses of British universities in India.
