Old man walked 2 km on both hands and feet to get pension!: 80 years old man from Odisha said – I can't walk, yet officer called office, video viral

The current era is fully underway in the era of Digital India. While people are transferring and withdrawing money in the blink of an eye, an 80-year-old woman from Odisha had to walk several kilometers barefoot in the hot sun to get her pension. The video of which is currently going viral on social media.

An 80-year-old woman in Odisha's Kyonjar had to walk 2 kilometers to the office to get her pension. Pathuri Dehuri, who lives in Raisuan village, cannot walk properly due to old age and illness.

There are government mandates to provide home pension to senior citizens and disabled. However, he had to go to the panchayat office to collect the pension. The incident took place on September 21, though its video went viral on Tuesday.

According to a Times report, the woman said, “We meet our daily expenses with the pension money.” The Panchayat Extension Officer (PEO) asked me to come to the office to collect the pension money. When no one came home to share the pension, I had no option but to walk 2 kilometers away to reach the panchayat office.

The woman said that it was the panchayat extension officer who called her to the panchayat office.

Sarpanch said- From next month women will get pension and ration at home

Bagun Champia, sarpanch of Raisuan, said that after getting information about Pathuri's case, PEOs and supply assistants have been instructed to deliver pension and ration to their homes from next month. Geeta Murmu, Block Development Officer, Telcoi said – We have instructed the PEO to give pension to the beneficiaries who cannot reach the Gram Panchayat office.

1 year ago, a video of a 70-year-old woman went viral

This video belongs to a Surya Harijan living in Navrangpur, Odisha. She walked several kilometers to the bank on 17 April 2023.

A similar case was reported in Odisha in 2023 as well. On April 17, 2023, an elderly woman had to go to a bank in scorching heat to collect her pension. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman shared the video of the woman and told the bank that bankers should show humanity.

In fact, in a video that went viral in April 2023, a 70-year-old woman, Surya Harijan, was seen walking in the sun with the help of a broken chair. His son works as a laborer in another state.
