Afghanistan win series against South Africa for the first time: 2nd ODI won by 177 runs, Gurbaz century, Rashid takes 5 wickets

Afghanistan team won by 177 runs. This is the team's biggest win in terms of runs in ODIs.

Afghanistan beat South Africa in the second consecutive ODI to clinch the series on Friday. Afghanistan team won by 177 runs in this match played in Sharjah. This is his biggest win in terms of runs in ODIs. This is the first time the team has won a series against South Africa in any format.

Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and elected to bat first. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz's record seventh century set Africa a target of 312 runs.

Chasing the target, the South African team could not stand against the Afghan spinners and were bundled out for 134 runs. Birthday boy Rashid Khan took 5 wickets while Nangelia Kharot took 4 wickets. Azmatullah Omarzai and Rahmat Shah's half century Rahmat Shah shared a century partnership with Gurbaz. Together they added 101 runs off 102 balls for the team. Rahmat Shah played an innings of 50 runs with the help of 2 fours. Apart from that, Azmatullah Omarzai scored 86 runs unbeaten while batting at a strike rate of 172. He hit 5 fours and 6 sixes in his innings. He found Mohammad for the fourth wicket. Together with Nabi shared 55 runs in 41 balls. For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi, Nandre Berger, Nakaba Peter and Aiden Markram took 1 wicket each.

Azmatullah Omarzai scored an unbeaten 86 while batting at a strike rate of 172.

Great start from South Africa Chasing 312 runs, South African openers Temba Bavuma and Tony D George gave a great start. The duo put on 73 runs for the first wicket, but after this none of the African batsmen could stay at the crease. Captain Temba Bavuma scored the highest 38 runs. The last 7 batsmen could not even touch double figures. South Africa were bowled out for just 134 runs in 34.2 overs and lost the match by 177 runs.

Rashid Khan, who is celebrating his 26th birthday, bowled brilliantly. He took 5 wickets for 19 runs in 9 overs. Rashid also bowled a madden over in his bowling spell. He dismissed Tony De Jorgi, Aidan Markram, Tristan Stubbs, Kiel Vereen and Wian Mulder. Rashid Khan was declared the player of the match. Left arm spinner Nangelia Kharote got 4 wickets.
