Superstar Mammootty Breaks Silence On Hema Committee Report: Says – There Is No Power Group In Malayalam Cinema, Investigation On Complaints In Report On

Expressing his opinion on the Hema Committee report, Superstar Mammootty has said that there is no power group in Malayalam cinema. The Justice Hema Committee was constituted by the government to study the film industry and prepare a report on the resolution of the problems. Mammootty shared a post on Facebook and wrote, 'This post is based on the current events that Malayalam cinema is facing. Cinema is a symbol of society. All the good and bad aspects of society are shown in movies. Film industry is something that society pays full attention to. Because of this every little thing that happens there will be discussed. To prevent such incidents, filmmakers need to be careful and alert so that nothing goes wrong in this field. In fact, there have been allegations of sexual exploitation of female actors in the Malayalam film industry for quite some time now. A 3-member committee headed by retired Justice Hema was constituted in 2019 to investigate this. After 4 years, on 19 August, the Hema committee handed over a 233-page report to the Kerala government, which exposed exploitation by several big actors. Mammootty also explained why he remained silent on the Hema Committee report until now, explaining why he had not voiced his opinion on the issue for so long despite being part of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA). He said he was waiting for the association to express its opinion first. Mammootty said- Makers should be vigilant to prevent such incidents Mammootty further wrote, 'We wholeheartedly welcome and support the recommendations and solutions in that report. It is high time that all film industry associations come together to implement this. Based on the complaint received, the police investigation is progressing rapidly. Malayalam Movie-Artists Association dissolved following sexual harassment allegations The Malayalam Movie Artistes Association (AMMA) was dissolved on Tuesday, August 27, following allegations of sexual harassment. Because of this, 17 members, including AMMA president and South superstar Mohanlal, resigned from their posts. A complaint of sexual harassment was filed against three members of AMMA. A case has been registered against two of these members. The decision to dissolve the association was taken after the Hema Committee report came out.
