Day 1 of second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh cancelled: No toss due to rain, Bangladesh leads series 1-0

The first day of the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh was canceled due to heavy rain. The Test, to be played at the Rawalpindi Stadium, was scheduled to start at 10:30 am IST, but the toss could not be held until 12:45 pm due to rain. After this the umpires ended the first day's play as the rain did not stop. Bangladesh win first test by 10 wickets Nazmul Hussain Shanto-led Bangladesh team registered a historic 10-wicket win against Pakistan in the first test match. Pakistan did not field a specialist spinner in the first Test, which cost them the result. For this reason, leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed has been included in the Pakistani team for the second match. Spinners Shakib Al Hasan and Mehdi Hasan Miraj played an important role in Bangladesh's victory. The hosts were also deducted 6 points due to a slow over rate after the first Test match against Bangladesh, who needed to win the remaining matches to advance to the WTC final. Because of this, the team's path to reach the final of the World Test Championship has become difficult. Now, if Pakistan wants to top the WTC points table, they will have to win all the remaining eight matches. This match is important for Bangladesh as per the World Test Championship. Bangladesh was also deducted 3 points due to slow over rate. Shaheen Afridi out of squad The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the 12-member squad for the second Test against Bangladesh on Thursday. Star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has not got a place in this team. Shaheen Afridi spearheaded the pace attack in the first Test match. Fast bowler Mir Hamza and leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed, who did not get a chance in the first Test match of the series, have returned to the squad. Afridi recently became a father Shaheen Shah Afridi's wife Ansha gave birth to a son a few days ago. Shaheen was playing a Test match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi at the time and could not go home due to national duty. Shaheen returned to his home after the match. There was no explanation as to why he was not included in the squad for the second Test.
