Indian judo players' careers stuck in clearance: 18 players unable to go to Korea due to delay in visa application

The Cadet Asian Championship has started in South Korea from Thursday. Due to lack of approval, 18 Indian players could not participate in this tournament. According to Judo Federation officials, timely approval was not received from the Sports Ministry and Sports Authority of India, which delayed the visa application. 18 players from India were selected for the Asian Cadet Championship. Including 9 boys and 9 girls. Trials for this tournament were held last month from July 21 to 23 in Delhi. 2000 rupees for registration and 1500 rupees as entry fee were charged from the players who participated in this trial. Judo player's father said- Son has been working hard for the last 6-7 years Jaswinder Singh, father of Babnoor Singh from Sriganganagar, who was selected in the 90+ KG category, said that his son is going to play an international tournament for the first time. For this he was working hard for last 6-7 years. The son came first in the trials held last month. He was supposed to catch a flight on August 27th and leave for Korea on August 28th. The players got their visas on the evening of August 28. Due to which other players including his son could not go. He alleged that the Judo Federation of India applied for the visa on July 22. Players would not have faced any problem if they had applied at the right time. Bengal's Samita Pal, who was selected for a weight of 47-48 kg for a registration fee of Rs 2000, said she participated in the trials held in Delhi from July 21 to 23. 2000 rupees for registration and 1500 rupees for entry fee were charged. We didn't get the visas on time, so we couldn't go and the dream for the country remained unfulfilled. Judo Federation of India advisory committee member Virendra Vashishth says that the list of players selected after the players' trials was sent to the Sports Authority of India and the Sports Ministry on July 26. We got the approval on the evening of 20th August. After which we applied for visa. We got the visas on the evening of August 28, due to which we could not send the cadet players.
