The world's largest gold deposit has been discovered in China's Hunan province. According to Xinhua News, Hunan's Pingxiang County may contain 1000 metric tons of high-grade gold. Its value is estimated at more than 83 billion dollars (Rs. 7 lakh crore).
Expert Chen Rulin says gold is clearly visible in many drilled rock cores. Core samples show that 1 metric ton of ore can contain as much as 138 grams (about 5 ounces) of gold. It is considered to be the largest gold deposit in the world so far. This is South Africa's South Deep mine with more than 900 metric tons of gold.
1000 metric gold found through 3D modeling
According to the report, more than 40 gold mines have been discovered in Pingjiang County. Geologists have previously estimated that there is 300 metric tons of gold here. However, it was later discovered using 3D modeling that the depth of the gold fissures is up to 3000 meters. This contains 700 metric tons more gold than estimated.
Chinese officials are conducting further research here. The Hunan Gold Corporation, which discovered it, says it is not known how much gold the mine contains due to its great depth. Due to this, the price cannot be said yet.
