The war between Israel and Lebanon has been going on for 8 days. More than 700 people have died in this war so far. Along with this, Israel has killed the commanders of Hezbollah's missile and drone units in an airstrike. Meanwhile, an Indian Army soldier stationed in Israel was brought to India by air ambulance on Thursday morning.
According to reports, the soldier has been identified as Suresh R (33). He was admitted to a hospital in Israel for the last 30 days. He has a head injury, due to which he cannot recognize places and people. The cause of the injury is not clear.
Suresh was involved in the United Nations Mission UNDOF in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. UNDOF is a peacekeeping mission, tasked with maintaining a ceasefire between Israel and Syria and attempting to de-escalate tensions between the two countries' armies.
Apart from Golan Heights, 900 Indian soldiers are also in Lebanon. He is involved in UNIFIL whose job is to maintain peace between Lebanon and Israel.
In such a situation, the question arises that what are the Indian soldiers doing on the Israeli border in the middle of the war? We know the answer to this question in this story…
Indian troops deployed to stop war in Israel-Lebanon It was March 1978. Pro-Palestinian terrorists present in Lebanon brutally murdered dozens of Jews. In retaliation for these killings, the Israeli army launched an operation to eliminate the militants in southern Lebanon. After this war started between the two countries. It was called an attack on Lebanon by Israel.
When the matter reached the UN, the United Nations Security Council immediately passed a resolution to restore peace to the place. According to this proposal, the Israeli army was asked to withdraw immediately from the Lebanese border.
The area from which the Israeli army withdrew was taken into its custody by the UN. The area has been under United Nations occupation ever since. International forces were deployed by the UN to maintain peace in the area.
These troops are called United Nations Interim Force i.e. UNIFIL. UNIFIL has been stationed here since 1978. The 110 kilometer stretch where UN forces are stationed in southern Lebanon is called the 'Blue Line'. This is a buffer zone between the two countries.
Currently there are about 10,500 peacekeepers from 48 countries in UN peace missions. At present, 900 Indian peacekeepers are also deployed near the Israel border in South Lebanon.
When Indian soldiers saved the lives of Pakistani soldiers In 1999, retired Major General Rajpal Punia went on a mission to Sierra Leone, South Africa in the UN Peace Mission. He had to conduct operations against local small terrorist organizations to maintain peace here. These terrorist organizations often resorted to violence here to put pressure on the local government.
According to Poonia, the UN mission was so dangerous that soldiers from 16 countries laid down their arms. After this, the Indian Army was entrusted by the UN to complete this mission. As soon as the Indian soldiers took charge, the entire company was surrounded by terrorists and asked to lay down their arms. Indian soldiers decided not to lay down their arms.
The terrorists took Pakistani soldiers hostage. When there was no way left, Indian soldiers launched an operation and rescued the Pakistani soldiers. These Pakistani soldiers saluted the Indian Army before returning from the mission.
