On Monday, 10 people were killed when Mount Leotobi Laki-Laki volcano erupted on Indonesia's eastern island of Flores. According to the New York Times, the volcano erupted for about 24 minutes on Sunday (November 3). After this, it erupted several times throughout the night and at around 6 am an ash cloud was seen rising to a height of 300 meters.
The volcanic eruption also caused dozens of earthquakes. Currently, the Indonesian government has expressed fear of more aftershocks. Due to the eruption of the volcano, 10 thousand people living in 7 villages have been damaged. Meanwhile, many houses were also burnt to ashes.
People said that after the explosion, it looked as if fireballs were falling on the houses. They left their homes and started running here and there. The administration has advised people to stay away from the 7 km radius of the volcano.

After the eruption of the volcano, rescue teams were seen removing bodies from the scene.
5 villages were evacuated An AFP reporter said five villages near Mount Laki-Laki have been evacuated. Apart from this, people have been advised to wear masks to avoid the effects of smoke. Since October, Mount Laki-Laki has erupted 43 times. An ash cloud was seen rising to a height of 800 meters after the volcano erupted last week.
The volcano has erupted several times since January, forcing nearly 2,000 people to leave their homes. Earlier in December last year, around 24 people were killed due to the eruption of Mount Marapi, Indonesia's most active volcano. In which most of the students of the university were present.
The volcano, located at an altitude of 2,891 km, spewed ash to a height of about 3 km. According to Aljazeera, Indonesia falls within the 'Ring of Fire' area. Near the Pacific Ocean is a horseshoe-shaped tectonic fault line. There are 120 active volcanoes in the country.
Rescue workers were seen clearing debris from nearby villages.
A building collapsed due to the earthquake that followed the eruption of the volcano.
In 2018, there was a tsunami from the volcano In 2018, the eruption of Indonesia's Krakatau volcano caused parts of the mountain to fall into the sea. This was followed by a tsunami along the coast of Sumatra and Java, killing 430 people. Earlier in 1871, the largest volcano ever erupted in Indonesia.
What is a volcano? Volcanoes are natural fissures present on the earth's surface. Through this, molten materials like magma, lava, ash etc. come out from the interior of the earth with explosions. Volcanoes are formed due to the collision of 7 tectonic plates and 28 sub-tectonic plates present on Earth. The world's most active volcano, Mount Etna, is in Italy.
