A major crackdown on hate speech has begun in Britain. 24 mosques are being investigated for alleged hate speech. These mosques are run by native Pakistanis. These mosques are in British cities like London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester. Fatwas on hate speech against non-Muslims were issued from these mosques. It is also alleged that these mosques provide hate speech in support of the terrorist organization Hamas and its members. If found guilty, the accused could be jailed for up to 14 years. Hate speech against Jews after October 7 Since the war in Gaza began, there have been many complaints of hate speech from these mosques. He is accused of inviting clerics and missionaries who spew venom against Israel and the Jews. After the Labor government came to power in July, the matter has come into action. The UK government has ordered an investigation into the activities and funding of more than 24 such mosques. According to the report, the decision to investigate the funding of these mosques was taken after hate speech speeches went viral. Helen Stephenson, head of the Charity Commission, which is investigating the matter, told Bhaskar, “We are looking into this and are also considering whether mosques violating the rules should have their charity status revoked.” Speeches inciting hate and violence in the name of propaganda Abu Ibrahim Hussain, a cleric at a Mohammedan mosque in Birmingham, told worshipers, “O Muslims, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.” The Mohammadi Trust has received a grant of Rs 12 lakh from the government in the last two years. Sheikh Suhaib Hassan, a cleric at the Tawheed Mosque in East London, justified the Hamas attack on Israel. In another mosque in Liverpool, a cleric said that if “three Arab Muslims attack Israel, the area will be completely destroyed.” Jewish activists hand over evidence to investigative agency Some Jewish activists have compiled a dossier of hate speech in Britain's mosques and shared it with British police. The mosques under investigation in Britain are run by people of Pakistani origin. The speeches delivered from these mosques contained violent messages such as 'destroy Israel', 'kill the Jews' and 'fight for Allah'. Under British law, people convicted of supporting Hamas or its members face up to 14 years in prison.
