Trump's Strange Suggestion to Trudeau to Avoid Tariffs: Said- Make Canada the 51st US State; The Canadian PM laughed nervously

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had dinner with US President-elect Donald Trump in Florida last Friday. Trump has threatened to impose a 25% tariff on imports from the North American country if he fails to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs into the USA. Immediately after which Trudeau went to meet him without any pre-planned arrangement.

In a nearly three-hour meeting at Mar-a-Lago, Trump said he hopes to change the issue by January 20 next year, according to a Fox News report. Trump will once again take charge of the Oval Office on January 20. However, Trump's way of conveying his message to Trudeau was quite different.

Trump joke or warning? According to a Fox News report, sources said Trudeau told Trump during the dinner that the new tariffs would destroy the Canadian economy. Taking a jibe at Trudeau's concerns, the newly elected US president said that perhaps Canada should become the 51st state of the US.

According to American News Channel, the main focus of the discussion between the two leaders was on tariffs, border security and trade deficit. Fox News quoted two people who overheard the conversation as saying that Trump welcomed Trudeau well, but made it clear what he wanted from Canada.

Trump gets tough on illegal immigration As the debate progressed, Trump accused Trudeau of failing to secure the US-Canada border and said he allowed people, including drugs and illegal immigrants from more than 70 countries, to enter the US. Trump told Trudeau in no uncertain terms that if Canada could not fix the border issues and trade deficit, he would impose 25% tariffs on all Canadian products on his first day in office.

In response to Trump's warning, Trudeau said he could not impose tariffs because it would destroy Canada's economy. Trump replied, 'So your country can't survive until it cheats America out of over $100 billion?'

Canada to become the 51st state of America? In the context of this conversation, Fox News, citing sources, said in its report that in order to avoid tariffs, Trump suggested to Trudeau that he make Canada the 51st state of the United States, causing the Canadian Prime Minister to laugh nervously. Trump didn't stop there, but Trudeau said prime minister was a better post, though he could still become governor of the 51st state.

According to sources, another person present at the dinner table joked that Canada would be a liberal state in America, which made everyone present laugh. After this, Trump again suggested that Canada could be divided into two states – one conservative and the other liberal.

He told Trudeau that if he could not meet his demands without robbing US trade, perhaps Canada should consider becoming a US state or two and appoint Trudeau as governor.

However, sources say that despite much laughter from those present at the table during the conversation, Trump delivered his stern message to Trudeau in a light tone that he expects change by January 20.
