Trump threatens Hamas: Release hostages by January 20, or face dire consequences

The newly elected US President Donald Trump has threatened Hamas. According to The Times of Israel, he has called for the immediate release of the Israeli hostages. Trump said there would be dire consequences if the hostages were not released by January 20.

Trump's statement came after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's wife Sara. Sara met Trump at the Trump International Golf Course in Florida on Sunday. Both had dinner together. Meanwhile, Sara spoke to Trump about the Gaza war and the release of hostages.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked Israel, killing 1,208 Israeli civilians. Hamas took 251 Israeli citizens hostage. Some of these hostages have died. 97 hostages are still being held by Hamas. According to the Israeli army, 35 of these hostages have also died.

Benjamin Netanyahu's wife Sara and son Yar had dinner with Trump in Florida on Sunday.

Trump will travel to Paris this week

Trump is planning to visit Paris this weekend. There he will participate in the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral Church on December 7. This will be Trump's first foreign trip after winning the presidential election.
