Thousands of Imran Khan supporters hit the streets in Pakistan: Gave 2 weeks ultimatum, said- If you don't release him, we will release him from jail ourselves

There was a huge uproar late on Sunday night regarding the release of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. Thousands of workers of Imran's party PTI clashed with the police. All these were on their way to the meeting at Kettle Ground in the capital Islamabad. But the police stopped him at the entrance of the city due to lack of NOC. Islamabad was turned into a camp. Enraged by this, the activists pelted stones on the police. Around two dozen policemen, including Islamabad ASP Shoaib Khan, were seriously injured. In response, the police resorted to lathi charge and fired tear gas canisters. Imran's supporters pulled down barricades at many places. Workers overturned large containers. Meanwhile, the police used tear gas to disperse the crowd. But the situation was not controlled. After this, the administration gave permission for a rally in Islamabad late in the evening. The rally gave the Shahbaz government an ultimatum of 2 weeks to release Imran Khan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin said that if Imran is not released within 2 weeks, we will release him ourselves. He said he would lead it and take the first bullet. PTI's first post-election rally This was Imran Khan's party's first rally in Pakistan since the election results were announced on February 8. Imran's party could not contest due to the ban, its candidates contested as independent candidates. Imran has shown his popularity and strength to PM Shahbaz Sharif by gathering crowds. The government had denied permission for the rally twice in two months. During the rally, PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan said in the National Assembly that the party will not remain silent until Imran Khan is released. “We are Imran Khan's soldiers and will not sit down until he is released,” he said. Imran has been in jail since August last year Imran Khan was arrested on August 5 last year after being convicted in a corruption case related to Toshakhana. Since then he has been in jail in several cases. Imran completed 400 days in jail on Sunday. On July 13, an Islamabad court acquitted Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the fake nikah case. The court said that they should be released immediately. Just 5 hours after the court order, a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team arrested him in another case related to Toshakhana.
