An average person in the country eats 52 grams of sugar per day. Which is much higher than the amount set by the World Health Organization (WHO). However, it is lower than the global average. Everyone around the world eats an average of 63 grams of sugar per day. America consumes the most sugar in the world. The average American consumes 126.4 grams of sugar per day. 34% of people use sugar in their morning coffee every day. According to the limit set by WHO, men should consume no more than 30 grams and women 25 grams per day. Then, this limit is set at 19 to 24 grams per day for children depending on age.
Stress is the main cause of binge eating A study by Talker Research in America found emotional reasons for wanting to eat something sweet. Stress was at the top with 39%. Other reasons included boredom at 36%, fatigue at 24% and loneliness at 17%. The study also found that 33 minutes after eating the sweet treat, 42% of people felt fatigued, 25% depressed and 21% less focused.
WHO recommendations The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that sugar should make up only 10% or less of your daily energy intake. This equates to about 12 teaspoons (50 grams) of sugar per day for an adult. This includes both added and naturally occurring sugars.
23% feel anxious after swallowing something In a study of 2,000 people in America, 23% believed that cravings for sweets made them anxious. In addition 20% feel impatient, 22% irritable and 20% unable to concentrate on their work.
13 minutes can stop the temptation to swallow food According to a study, a person can resist the temptation to eat something sweet for an average of 13 minutes. Then he gives up. Also 12% people believed that he takes time out of his busy schedule to eat something sweet. Thus, an average person can resist the urge to swallow food for a maximum of 13 minutes.
