This year's most powerful typhoon 'Shanshan' has hit Japan. Shanshan reached the southwestern island of Kyushu at 8 am on Thursday. According to the NYT, the storm is bringing torrential rain with winds of up to 252 kmph. The storm has caused heavy damage in many areas. Shanshan, dubbed Typhoon No. 10 in Japan, knocked out power to more than 250,000 homes, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. Japan Airlines announced the cancellation of 172 domestic flights and six international flights on Wednesday and Thursday. Another airline, ANA, canceled 219 domestic flights and four international flights. More than 25 thousand people have been affected by flight cancellation. The bullet train running between Kumamoto and Kagoshima has also been cancelled. Car maker Toyota has halted production at all 14 of its factories in Japan until the storm subsides.
