Rahul Gandhi meets diplomat Donald Lu in US: He was accused of fomenting insurgency in Bangladesh and Pakistan, US says – this is a normal conversation

A US State Department spokesperson said on Wednesday that senior diplomat Donald Lu's meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was part of a normal diplomatic conversation. According to news agency ANI, the spokesperson said that our policy has been to talk to the governments of allied countries as well as opposition leaders and people with social ties. He said he could not comment further on this private conversation. Rahul met Lu on Monday. He is the Assistant Secretary of State for the South and Central Asia Bureau of the US State Department. Lu is visiting India and Bangladesh this week. Donald Lu will come to New Delhi first. Here he will participate in a business summit. After this, Lu will participate in the eighth two plus two ministerial meeting between India and the US. He will then travel to Bangladesh where he will meet the leaders of the interim government. He also went to Bangladesh in May this year. Lu Accused of Coup in Pakistan-Bangladesh Donald Lu's name has been linked to coups in South Asian countries. Even after the fall of Imran Khan's government in Pakistan, his name came up. Imran Khan openly named him and held him responsible. Earlier this year, Lu testified before the US Congress and denied allegations that he had overthrown the government in Pakistan. In Bangladesh too, Donald Lu's name came up last month when Sheikh Hasina was ousted from power. However, America denied this. Rahul met Pakistan supporter Ilhan Umar Before this, Rahul Gandhi was on a 3-day visit to America. During this he met Indian tourist students and American legislators. Rahul also met with American MP Ilhan Umar. Ilhan Umar is known for her anti-India statements. 41-year-old Ilhan Omar is a Democratic Party lawmaker from Minnesota. Ilhan Umar visited Pakistan in 2022. During this period she also went to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Omar also met former Prime Ministers of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif and Imran Khan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi went on a state visit to America in June. Meanwhile, he addressed a joint session of the US Parliament. Ilhan Umar boycotted this session. He accused PM Modi of discriminating against minorities in his regime. Amit Shah said – Rahul is with anti-national forces, protests have started in the country after Rahul's meeting with Ilhan. Many BJP leaders have criticized Rahul for meeting him. Home Minister Amit Shah said that it has become a habit of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party to speak anti-nationally and stand with the forces that are trying to break the country. Be it supporting the anti-national and anti-reservation agenda in Jammu and Kashmir or speaking anti-India in foreign forums, Rahul has always hurt the security and sentiments of the country.
