/ Quad organization to counter China in the Indian Ocean will not be held in India this year. India has exchanged hosting of the Quad Summit with the US. According to media reports, India will host the Quad in 2025. In fact, earlier the Quad Summit was scheduled to be held in January 2024 in India. However, the summit was postponed until September due to the lack of time available to US President Biden at the time. The Quad Summit is attended by the Presidents of the member countries. This is the most important meeting of the organization. The Quad Summit can be held in America on September 21. It will include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Australian PM Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. According to sources, holding the Quad Summit in the US will give Biden a chance to host his last summit as president. It is certain that whichever candidate wins the US elections later this year will come to India for the Quad. That means one of Kamala Harris and Trump will visit India for sure. Quad Summit to be held in Biden's Hometown Quad Summit will be held in Delaware, Biden's home state in America. This will also be the last Quad Summit for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida as he will not run for office next year. Along with this, Prime Minister Modi will no longer address the United Nations General Assembly. His speech was scheduled to take place on September 26. According to the new schedule, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will address him on September 28. Prime Minister Modi will participate in the Quad Summit on September 21. After this he will address the Indian community in New York on the 22nd. Modi will also participate in the UN Summit for the Future program on September 22-23. India wanted Quad Summit in New York, US disagreed According to a report in The Hindu, India planned to host the summit in New York. However, September 21 is Saturday and the President of the United States is off to his home and beach in Delaware for the weekend. Because of this, America decided to organize the summit in Delaware. The 2023 Quad Summit was also postponed The 2023 Quad Summit was held in Hiroshima, Japan. Earlier this summit was to be held in Sydney, Australia. However, due to the debt crisis in America at the time, it was avoided at the request of Biden. After this it was decided with the meeting of G7 countries. In Hiroshima, PM Modi announced that the 2024 meeting will be held in India. For this, the heads of all the member states had to come to India. The chairmanship of the Quad rotates annually among all member states. In 2023, its chairmanship remained with Japan. Why is QUAD important for India? QUAD strategically counters China's economic and military rise, so this alliance becomes very important for India. Experts believe that China has a long-standing border dispute with India. In such a situation, if its aggression on the border increases, India can seek help from other QUAD countries to stop this communist country. Besides, by increasing its stature in the QUAD, India can also maintain the balance of power in Asia by curbing Chinese arbitrariness. China has been hampering QUAD's development Since its creation in 2007, QUAD has not been able to develop very quickly. The main reason is China's strong opposition to QUAD. Initially, India showed hesitation due to Chinese opposition. Australia also withdrew from QUAD in 2010 due to Chinese opposition, however, it later rejoined. In 2017, Indo-US, Australia and Japan decided to revive this alliance to counter China. Following this, in 2017, the first official QUAD talks were held in the Philippines. A joint statement issued at the first conference of QUAD countries to be held in March 2021, without naming China, expressed a commitment to protect the Indo-Pacific region from interference by any country.
