Punjab youth dies in Manila: Saw aunt's son's wedding on video call, went abroad 7 years ago

A youth from Burj Nalkia village of Raikot, Punjab died in Manila. The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Gurpreet Singh. The young man went abroad in 2017.

Jagroop Singh, father of the deceased youth Gurpreet Singh, said that he was his only son. Who went to Manila in 2017. Shortly after moving there, he started his career in finance. He said that his aunt's son got married in Amritsar just a few days ago. Which his son watched live through video call for about 5 minutes, but when he was called in the evening, he did not pick up the phone.

After this, he kept calling for two days, but when he did not pick up, they called people living nearby and tried to find out the situation. When neighbors opened his room, they found Gurpreet Singh lying dead. Nothing is known about how Gurpreet Singh died. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the Manila police reached the spot and took possession of the body and sent it for postmortem.

He said that Gurpreet Singh was very interested in sports. He also won many medals in Judo-Karate. He said that his son has participated in national level competitions. Due to which he was also getting a job in the Air Force. But from the beginning he wanted to go abroad and settle down. Due to this he went to Manila and started working. He said that when he spoke to his son recently, he said that he would definitely come to the village in the new year.
