Proposed law: Australia to ban social media so kids can enjoy their childhood

Australia will now ban social media for minors. The government of PM Anthony Albanese is going to introduce a law soon. Under the proposed law, children under the age of 16 will not be able to use social media. If Australia passes this law, it will become the first country to do so. Let us know why this law is coming, how it will be implemented and why it is being opposed. The government believes that social media has a negative impact on children's mental and physical health. Children return to real life and participate in sports and social activities. Under the proposed law, social media companies will have to ensure that children under the age of 16 do not use their platforms. In this direction, the government will also conduct an age verification trial for 65 lakh teenagers. Experts believe that banning the use of social media by minors is not the right approach. This may affect their freedom of expression and privacy. Social media companies may face a fine of up to Rs 10 crore for not complying with the law.
