What is Brix and how powerful is it?
The journey of the BRICS organization in its current form has been completed in three stages…
First Stage: RIC stands for Russia, India and China – these three countries came together to form an association in the 1990s. The organization was headed by Russian leader Yevgeny Primakov. The purpose of the coming together of the three countries was to challenge America's dominance in world foreign policy and at the same time restore our relationship.
Second stage: BRIC stands for Brazil, Russia, India and China – In 2001, investment bank Goldman Sachs described these four countries as the fastest growing economies in the world. After this, in 2009, these countries came together to form an organization called BRIC.
Third Stage: BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – South Africa was made a part of this organization in 2010 to represent the African continent. Then this organization got its final form and was called BRICS.
Today, BRICS has overtaken the EU to become the third most powerful economic organization in the world.
Even while the West was mired in recession, the BRICS countries advanced rapidly In 2008-2009 when the western countries were going through economic crisis. Even then, the economies of the BRICS countries were growing rapidly. The concept of formation of BRICS organization is based on the premise of 'Rising Economy'.
Meaning countries whose economies have the courage to grow rapidly and compete with Western countries. Earlier Western countries controlled 60% to 80% of world economy, now BRICS countries are gradually taking their place.
Pakistan also wants to become a member of BRICS Pakistan also applied last year to join BRICS, the world's third most powerful economic bloc. It has also hoped to get help from Russia to achieve BRICS membership in 2024.
Pakistan's ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, gave this information in an interview given to the news agency TASS last year. He said that Pakistan has applied for BRICS membership. We hope that Russia will help us in this.
