This is the second time in 2 years that Netanyahu has fired Defense Minister Gallant.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired Defense Minister Yoav Galant on Tuesday. Netanyahu said there is a lack of trust between them, which is not good in times of war. According to the Times of Israel, Foreign Minister Katz will take over as Defense Minister.
Also, Gideon Saar will now be Israel's foreign minister. Gallant was handed a letter from Netanyahu's office at 8pm on Tuesday. In which Netanyahu wrote that his tenure will be completed 48 hours after receiving the letter. I thank you for your service as Defense Minister.
Netanyahu concluded his speech with a salute at the press conference following his dismissal.
Netanyahu said – Gallant made decisions going against the cabinet After this, Netanyahu announced the removal of Yoav Gallant through a video message. Netanyahu said, “At the beginning of the war we had trust, we did a lot of work together, but in the last few months there was no trust between us. We did not agree with each other on many aspects of the war. Gallant has made several decisions and statements that Cabinet did not agree.
Meanwhile, Israel's PM accused Gallant of benefiting the country's enemies. Netanyahu said, “I tried many times to close the gap between us, but it didn't happen. Little by little it started to look like a desert to the masses. The worst happened when our enemies started to take advantage of it.” Military operations are also suffering due to lack of trust.”
Netanyahu had previously fired Gallant Netanyahu said most of the government and cabinet were in favor of Gallant's removal. Also, this is the second time in the past two years that Netanyahu has fired Gallant. Last time, Netanyahu fired Gallant for demanding changes to the country's judicial system. However, they reinstated him within a month.
The 13-month war has seen many differences between Netanyahu and Gallant.
Galante Said- Defense of the country is the goal of my life After stepping down as defense minister, Gallant said, “The security of Israel has always been the goal of my life, and I will continue to look forward to the security of the country.” At a press conference afterward, Gallant became emotional, saying, “The reason for my dismissal was the need for the release of those abducted in the October 7 attack and the demand for the formation of a commission of inquiry into the war.”
Gallant said that Israel is going to face many difficulties in the coming years. In such circumstances we will have no choice. All citizens of the country must come together and serve in the army, so that we can succeed in the mission of protecting Israel.
