Goddess Durga's tiara has been stolen from Jeshoreshwari temple in Bangladesh. This silver crown is overlaid with gold. CCTV footage of the incident surfaced on Friday.
PM Modi visited Jeshoreshwari temple during his visit to Bangladesh in 2021. Meanwhile, he offered this crown in the temple. This visit of Modi was the first visit to any country after Kovid-19.
India has expressed objection to the incident of theft. The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has demanded action.

The thief escaped by hiding the tiara inside the T-shirt In the CCTV video of the tiara being stolen from the temple, a boy wearing jeans and a t-shirt is seen entering the temple. After picking up the tiara, he hides it inside a T-shirt and then after stealing it, he leaves the temple.
The incident of theft took place between 2 pm and 2.30 pm on Thursday. The temple attendant noticed that the crown was missing from the head of the goddess. After which the Shyamnagar Police was informed about this. Inspector Taijul Islam of Shyamnagar police station said that they are examining the CCTV footage of the temple to identify the thief.
Mandir Mahila Sevak Rekha Sarkar said-
Prasad was being distributed in the temple in the afternoon. After this the priest Dilip Kumar Banerjee gave me the keys. Then I started washing the worship utensils. Unknowingly, the door of the temple was left open. After a minute or two from there I noticed that mother's tiara was missing. Later I told this to everyone present in the temple.
Krishna Mukherjee, vice president of Shyamnagar upazila branch of Bangladesh Puja Proclamation Council, said that this temple is a place of pilgrimage. After the arrival of the Prime Minister of India, people started to know more about the temple.

Jeshoreshwari Temple One of the 51 Shaktipeeths The Jeshoreshwari temple of Maa Durga is considered to be one of the 51 Shaktipeeths in Hinduism. It was named 'Jeshoreshwari' as it was in the Jessore region (present day Bangladesh).
The idol of the goddess in the temple is considered a symbol of power and devotion and devotees come here to seek the blessings of the mother goddess. According to religious belief, any devotee who visits this temple gets freedom from fear and disease. Mother also fulfills every wish of the devotees.
This temple was built in the 12th century by a Brahmin named Anari. It had 100 doors.
