Newly elected US President Donald Trump has appointed Kashyap Kash Patel of Gujarati origin as the next director of the investigative agency 'Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Trump announced this in a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Saturday.
In the post, Trump also praised Kash Patel's past work. Prior to this, Kash Patel served as Chief of Staff at the Department of Defense, Deputy Director of National Intelligence and Senior Director of Counterterrorism Programs at the National Security Council during Trump's first term.
Kash Patel was considered America's first fighter “I am proud that Kashyap Kush Patel will serve as the next director of the FBI,” Trump said. Kash is a brilliant lawyer and investigator. Praising Kash Patel, Trump called him an 'America First' fighter. Trump said Kash Patel has spent his career exposing corruption, protecting justice and the American people.
Trump said Kash Patel has been tasked with dealing with America's rising crime rate, criminal gangs and border crimes like human and drug smuggling.
Kash Patel will work under Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Born in a Gujarati family, the parents fled to Uganda Kash Patel was born in a Gujarati family. 44 year old Kash Patel was born on February 25, 1980 in New York. His roots are in the city of Vadodara in Gujarat. Fearing Ugandan ruler Idi Amin's order to leave the country, Kash Patel's parents fled to America via Canada in the 1970s. After Kash Patel's father got American citizenship in 1988, he got a job in an airline company.
Kash Patel did his graduate studies at Pace University Law School in New York. After completing his law degree in 2004, when Kash Patel couldn't get a job in a big law firm, he started working as a government lawyer. He worked in the courts of Miami for about 9 years. During that period he solved complex cases including murder, drug trafficking and financial crimes.
In 2013, he was appointed as a trial attorney at the Department of Justice, where he worked to investigate individuals associated with terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS. In 2017, he was appointed as a senior counter-terrorism adviser to the House Intelligence Committee.
In 2019, he was appointed as a staff member of President Trump's National Security Council (NSC). In the same year, he was also made the Senior Director of Counterterrorism Directorate. During Donald Trump's first term as president, Kash Patel served as Trump's counterterrorism adviser on the National Security Council and chief of staff to Defense Secretary Christopher Miller.
Kash Patel was included in the committee formed on Russian interference in the 2016 elections. It was while working on this that he first came to Trump's attention.
According to a New York Times report, Trump as president in 2019 pressured Ukraine to gather information about Joe Biden's son. Due to which the opposition got angry with him. To avoid any legal complications, Trump created a team of advisers to help with the matter. In which the name of Kash Patel was also included. Then everyone was surprised to see his name.
Kash Patel continued to climb the promotion ladder after joining the Trump administration in 2019. He only stayed in the Trump administration for 1 year and 8 months, but got everyone's attention. A report in The Atlantic magazine described Kash Patel as someone who would 'do anything for Trump'.
In a Trump administration where almost everyone was already loyal to Trump, he was also counted among Trump's most loyal. Because of this, many officers were afraid of him.
Kash Patel has also written several songs for Trump, calling him a patriot.
Wrote book on Trump, helped in that too Kash Patel has served as Senior Advisor to the Director of National Intelligence. During this period he looked after the functioning of 17 intelligence agencies. While holding this position, Patel was involved in many important matters. He has also been involved in the mission to bring back several American hostages in addition to killing ISIS leaders, al-Qaeda leaders such as Baghdadi and Qasim al-Rimi.
After Trump left office, Kash Patel is trying to advance the former president's agenda. Kash has written a book titled “Government Gangsters: The Deep State, The Truth and the Battle for Our Democracy”. In which he has told how widespread corruption is in the government.
Kash Patel has also written a book titled The Plot Against the King to popularize Trump among children. In this he played the role of a magician, who helps to save Trump from Hillary Clinton. At the end of the story the magician succeeds in convincing the people that Trump did not gain power by tricking Hillary Clinton.
Kash Patel also oversees the operations of Donald Trump's social media platform 'Truth'. Kash Patel also served as a security advisor for Qatar during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
