Israel on Wednesday targeted the international airport of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Apart from this, airstrikes were also carried out in different parts of Beirut and Bekaa Valley. More than 40 people have been killed while more than 50 people have been injured in these attacks.
According to news agency PTI, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had called for the evacuation of the airport and its surroundings before the attack. The IDF claimed that Hezbollah's command center and weapons depot were targeted during the attack in Beirut.
Earlier on Tuesday, Israel also carried out an airstrike on an apartment building in the Lebanese city of Barja. About 30 people were killed. The IDF did not even issue any warning before the attack.
On the other hand, Israeli army has reached Beit Lahia in Gaza too. Until now the IDF was only bombing there. According to Israel, Hamas militants have once again begun to gather in the area.
The building was reduced to rubble after an Israeli attack in Beirut.
More than 3 thousand people died in Lebanon Over 3,000 Lebanese civilians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the past year. Most of them have been killed in the Israel-Lebanon war that has been going on for the past 6 weeks. The war has forced more than one million people from Lebanon to flee their homes.
Most of the people are taking shelter in relief camps. Now there is no space left even in these camps. Hence, arrangements have been made to accommodate people on a temporary basis by putting up tents on the beach.
On the other hand, Hezbollah chief Naim Qasim on Wednesday expressed his desire to hold ceasefire talks with Israel. He has asked for an end to Israel's attacks before the talks.
Local people and many human rights organizations are delivering food packets, medicines and essential items to refugee camps in Beirut.
Naim Qasim on Israel's target Last week, Israel also warned Hezbollah's new chief, Naim Qasim. Israel said that if Qasim follows the path of its old leaders, its situation will be different. Qasim left Beirut on October 5 and flew to Iran on the Iranian Foreign Minister's plane.
Israel says that peace will come to Lebanon only when Hezbollah's military power is eliminated. There is only one solution to the Lebanon problem, and that is to abolish this organization altogether.
Israel has also been successful in its campaign to eliminate Hezbollah. Israel has eliminated 5 of the organization's top 8 leaders. Before Qasim, Hashim Saifeedin's name was leading in the race to become the chief. Hashim was Nasrallah's cousin, but he too was killed in an Israeli airstrike.
Due to the lack of space in permanent shelters in Beirut, temporary refugee camps have been set up along the seashore.
